The best part of helping people succeed on eBay and the Internet is hearing back from people that I’ve helped in some way. It’s even better when they agree to help others succeed too!
I recorded a phone call Friday with THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SELLER ON EBAY that I’ve ever met.
You’ve never heard of Rob Frechette before. He’s been behind the scenes (no interviews, books, training seminars etc.)
CLICK HERE to listen to the call I recorded with him – it’s free to listen in.
(If you can’t get through to the page check back later-a lot of people are hitting the page! Also if you’d like you CAN download this audio file to your own computer for smoother listening. To do this put your mouse on the word “click here†above and then use the RIGHT CLICK button on your mouse and choose â€save as†from the drop down menu. Save the file to your computer.)
I consider Rob the most successful seller on eBay for a couple reasons.
First he did $2.2 million on eBay last year. That’s not all that unusual until you consider that he did it with only one other full time employee (his dad).
My favorite part of the call is when he credits my SilentSalesMachine.com book for helping him! (Sorry I had to throw that in there…)
I bet you are wondering what he sells and what his advice is for other eBay sellers or beginners? We address these and many other fantastic issues in a great 22 minute call.
Since this recording is taking up a TON of bandwidth (with 120,000 potential listeners!) on my server could I ask you a favor? Tell a few friends about it and tell them to visit:
http://www.jimcockrum.com/robf.html
…so they can get updates about Rob’s business and his unique yet simple approach to eBay success. This way I get a few new subscribers to my newsletter in exchange for the HIGH bandwidth bill I’ll be getting!
Also – LEAVE ME FEEDBACK by clicking the comments button below. What do you think of the call? What else would you like to hear from Rob…?
Thank you Jim for providing us with this interview. Congratulations Rob. You are proof that money can be made on eBay and are an inspiration to all eBay sellers.
Thank you Jim for sharing this inspiring story with us. If Rob is using some of the information from your book, then I can’t imagine what his back end sales figures are.
I hope that your other subscribers are as inspired as I was by this call.
Very uplifting story…keep up the good work!
Thank you for sharing Rob\’s very inspirational story, and also thank you for having a great newsletter and blog.
Thank You, Freda
Great conversation! It was very motivating and inspiring for me. I can’t wait for his book! THANK YOU!
Thanks, this was realy a very interesting story for me – it shows me that you dont’t need much money to start on ebay – just doing the first step!
Congratulation Rob!
Jim, this the type of message that people need to hear. Thee is no excuse for people to continue to work end dead end jobs building somebody elses dream when they can build their own with Ebay!
Very inspirational Call!

Thanks a million! Very inspiring story. There is light at the end of the ebay tunnel. One step at a time and the sky is the limit. Thanks again Jim and Rob.
Very interesting. Enjoyed
Thanks for the inspiring and educational interview – lots of good info. Question for Rob: When you take your eBay business to a global level, how do you determine which countries NOT to do business with because of political or fraud concerns?
[[reply from Jim]]: That\’s a great question. Rob has done a lot of international selling so I\’m sure he\’ll be able to address that easily. I\’ll pass it along and hopefully it can be included in the book! If not, you\’ll have his email address soon enough (he\’s still a bit \”in hiding\”). ;0)
Jim,
I\’ve had the pleasure of reading a review copy of Roberts book for dogpuss.com – If anyones looking for inspiration to built a full time living out of eBay and prove that anyone can do it, it\’s manduatory that you read this ebook NOW!
[[reply from Jim]]: It\’s good stuff isn\’t it Mark! The book will be available to the general public soon enough – I\’m helping him with the sales page etc. right now. It\’s going to look very sharp and the info will be well worth the price tag!Â
Jim,
This was a nice little interview, but to be truthful, I\’m a bit tired of hearing about these top sellers that won\’t share their eBay info with us. Personally, I\’d like to see for my self what they are doing on eBay, see the sales they are making, see everything about them, if possible.
It would be nice for these \”huge sellers\” to share at least one account to the public. They don\’t need to share all of their accounts, but seeing is believing, and for all that anyone knows, this interview could have been scripted and performed by someone. Even seeing what he does online, there\’s no way that ALL of it could be \”stolen\” or copied like you state in this interview.
I\’ve bought your ebooks and enjoy your mailing list, but I don\’t think that this is too much to ask.
Thanks.
[[reply from Jim]]: I can appreciate your honesty. I\’ve seen his account and actually encouraged him NOT to mention his eBay ID in the interview. He will be revealing that to the world soon enough, but the last thing I wanted to see is hundreds of competitors popping up copying him. Customers that show they are serious will get to see his account I\’ve been promised! It\’s quite amazing…
Also – part of the beauty of eBay is that you can EASILY surf eBay and find MANY wildly successsful eBay businesses quickly. There are lessons to be learned from each of them…it\’s time well spent to cruise around eBay in search of successful sellers.
Very down to earth interview. I am, very much, one of those, who keeps on reading, listening, watching huge ocean of info on the topic. So far I have only sold one printer, with a silent sale ebook ‘How to make free passport pictures and make your printer free’. Unfortunately, only printer got sold.
However,Very loud and clear message I get is that I should start selling SOMETHING, however small! More transactions.
Hi Jim! This interview is simply…AWESOME!! I cherish recordings like this simply because they’re so inspiring. I too can’t wait for Rob’s book
Hi Jim. Great interview, very inspiring. I have been an Ebayer for about 3 years and selling for about 2 years. And I’ve quit working for someone else, and I’m ready to go to the next level with my Ebay business. You have helped me out a lot and can’t wait to get Rob’s book. What Rob says is true. Start out small, get a feel for it and learn everything about Ebay and then gradually go to the next level. It takes time, but you can be successful. A lot of research. Thanks for everything and can’t wait for the book.
Hi Jim & Rob,
I am one of those who have been setting on the sidelines now for over a year. Full time J*O*B has always been the excuse. I needed to hear Rob’s ‘story’ to get over the excuse phase and to take action!
Thank you both!
Rick
Hi Jim and Rob,
Very interesting call. I’ve always thought that Adsense is a good way to go – no customers to serve, see. But, both of you really open my eyes to the possibility of eBay.
Great info. Thank you very much!
Eddy
Hi Jim / Rob
Very nice story. Thanks for bringing it to the little folks. While it was a great story, I too am tired of the -Oh it’s so easy- -just start doing something-. I have done all the steps he has suggested. So far I make $5 here, $10 there. Big deal! I made that huckin papers when I was 12 years old.
I have bought from the clearence rakes and spent a lot of time listing and returning them to the stores when they do not sell on ebay. There IS a reason the items were on a CLEARENCE rake. No one wanted them!
In my opinion, the KEY is knowing which JEANS will sell on Ebay and how to list 50,000 different auctions a month. My guess is that Rob has not listed 50,000 different auctions monthly. He must have learned quickly that you can’t make 50,000 different listings every month. The JEANS made him money in the begining because he was finding a bunch of great label JEANS. What next? I would bet my life that he eventually found some pretty good wholesale sources or some very unique product. The key, folks, isn’t what can I sell but… where do you get product to sell that has a large demand AND enough margin to make a living off of online (and something that the competition won’t smoke you on ebay). I DO NOT need another ebook telling me anything other than -how to source these kinds of products that sell for large profit on ebay-! Face it, if you aren’t make huge profits, why list, package, ship; list package ship; list package ship? That’s just another job and a lot of work! Think it trhough! 50,000 / 7 days = 7143 packages per day. There is no way 2 guys and a couple part-timers are packaging this volume. It has got to be dropshipping, right?
I have spent so much on these ebooks. Trust me, if you do not have the business EYE for what will sell quickly for a nice profit, selling will be a HARD pill to swallow. Get your own product folks. Wow, I got a little long winded, sorry. Keep trying till you make it! ced
Opps! My math stinkith! 50000 / 30 days per onth = 1667 per day. So if you do further math, 1667 / 24 hours (non stop packing) = 69 pachages per hour all day every day???
I am thinking it would be easier to sell my kids
I thought the call was very interesting. I’m sure the book will be too. I am on medical leave and started selling things around my house. I really enjoy doing it. I am inspired by Rob and you Jim. I loved your SilentSalesMachine ebook. I’m really having fun learning all this. I plan on making my own product and am selling a few things in the meantime and having fun!
Great Jim/Rob – Is it true? May be ,its always the first step that’s important. Great lesson to learn. Jim how long you are going to teach us but still we can’t take the first step. Now is the time.
I have been operating in a very small way on Ebay since 1996, On and Off, Losing interest and starting again with another I.D.
I agree that the only way to learn is to get off your backside and start doing something, If you do not think you have anything to sell, Get a wash Basket and go round the house putting stuff in that you realise you have not touched for years + list it Now!!!
Get the silent Sales Machine book and use what you learn, do not sit on it.
I found this book so inspiring, I was motivated to “get stuck in” I am now a powerseller with my original ID, and am now on my 2nd ID where I have started an ebay store and looking onwards and upwards.
I find that you can find loads of good quality stuff from Charity shops and Car boot sales, I follow the “Dealers” around and pick up what they leave on the table when sellers are demoralised that they are not making sales and their stuff is rubbish, this is not the case, It is just that they do not have antiques for peanuts that they can sell on for lodsamoney.
Think out of the box and go for stuff people need like Home Furnishings, Technical equipment (i.e. Drawing boards, Technical drawing pen sets)etc.
Above all, stop bemoaning your fate and do something to change your life for the better, no-one is going to come up and give you loads of cash, you have to get it for yourself (No not robbing a bank!!)
Anyway, I am off my soapbox now!!
Good Luck to the Guy, I only hope I can say I am in the same position this time next year, If I am, you sure will hear about it!!
Any way you could provide a transcript of the interview for those of us stuck with dial-up and can\’t listen to the recording?
I\’m out in the boonies and no access to DSL so anything with video or other media is virtually useless and I just delete it. I know I probably miss out on alot but I can only work with what I have to work with so out of site out of mind is my theory.
[[reply from admin]] : you can download the file to your own PC and then listen to it. There are insructions in italics in the post above.
GREAT INTERVIEW!!! I too think that Rob should give us his ebay I.D. (Guess we can’t get that until we buy the book)It’s great to have a “model business” to follow, etc. Not sure what would be stollen!!
Just my thoughts,
John
Inspiring and educational. I am quite sure that most of the people, not all, who have listened to this call asked themselves the same question I asked myself when the call was over. That question was: WHAT is Rob selling NOW on Ebay @ 50k transactions per month? True or not? A picture is worth a thousand words.
GoTo: http://www.jimcockrum.com/robf.html
for that picture.
Thanks Jim, for making this call available. Also, if you say Rob’s book will be worth the ticket, then that’s good enough for me. Keep up the good work Jim.
See Ya!

Hi Jim / Rob,
i know all you say it’s true.
And i don’T BELIEVE THAT impossible exist
in our world and we can do it like Rob and the others, just we must learn cause the Knowldge is very important to let our dream come true
… we can do it…
thank you Jim
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rob! And thank you Jim for giving us another wonderful resource! Can’t wait for the book. I finally put my first items on Ebay after listening to the call. It was just what I needed to get motivated!
Jim,
Thank you for making your conversation with Rob available to us. It’s really inspiring for me.
Thank you for continually encouraging everyone you come into contact with, in a friendly, professional, and open manner, to press ahead toward our individual dreams and goals.
Say hello to Rob for me and tell him what an inspiration his story is for us!
Regards, Jim
Jim,
I just finished Robs ebook and it was well worth the small price Rob was asking.
Great job of keeping us informed and learning best practices to make eBay a viable business model each of us can use.
Give Rob my best, and tell him thank you for taking the time to put his knowledge where we can all benefit.
Regards, Jim
Thank you for making this information available as well as this inspiring call. It was time well spent.
We so often hear that “this person” is making “x” dollars on ebay, and that we can duplicate that for ourselves. We then invest & are told something like “write an ebook about something you know & sell it” or “contact businesses to be an independant sales person, selling their product on ebay” or something of this sort… things that just discourage people because the majority of us don’t know how to begin (to write an ebook or how to make such a business proposal, etc). This time we get real info, real hope. And yes, we can duplicate Rob’s success… Any of us can see what kind of belt buckles are selling on ebay (if that’s what we choose to sell), go to a thrift store or garage sale, buy a couple and get started.
I thank you and Rob for this information and true hope.
Warmest Regards,
Caroline
