What question would you like to ask?
Tuesday, November 21st, 2006 - 12:22 pm
As mentioned in the newsletter I will be interviewing the CEO of a top surplus inventory company. They have a bigger than 60,000 square foot facility FULL of inventory that they will sell to eBay sellers. This is your chance to learn more about bulk inventory and how you can expand your ebay business.
The intial investment can be as little as $100! The CEO of the company has agreed to let me ask him some tough questions. I told him this isn’t a “press release” type interview - this is going to be in depth and only made available to my most loyal customers.
So if you have any ideas for questions you’d like me to ask him let me know by leaving a comment. I’ll take the time to get all his answers recorded and put the full interview on the resource page.
Remember - the resource page is only available to those that buy a copy of (or have ever bought a copy of) “The Silent Sales Machine”

I would like to know how much the monthly fee is to use this company? Is this a dropship wholesale company? Do I need to have a license to make purchases?
1)I would like you to ask how us Canadian buyers can get around the expensive brokerage fees charged by Fed Ex and UPS and not rely on the USPS as their delivery times can be very slow and customs can be a pain to deal with.
2) What would be the absolute minimum order that a buyer could make for us that are cash strapped until we get our businesses up and running and profitable.
I am just staring a web site to sell vitaims,I plan on useing a dropshipper because I don’t have much money to buy bulk, and as a newbie to ebay selling it is hard to get established so people buy from you.My question would it better to open up your ebay store to sell in bulk, use Buy It Now,or Auction?
Thank you Jim for getting our questions answered you are the only one out there I know of that ask us what we need to know to. Linda
Yes I would like to know what percentage of unsaleable product is the norm for your particular company Pallet wise or boxed?
Thanks
[[reply from Jim]]: it is my understanding that you can pick and choose what goes on your pallet, but I\’ll ask that question for sure!
Hi Jim, Always the skeptic, why don\’t wholesalers and dropshipers just hire someone in-house and do business with ebay themselves? It seems simple and a way for them to add to thier profits. I may have missed a simple answer to this, as I have not completed reading SSM. Thanks in advance, Bob O
[[reply from Jim]]: that\’s actually a great question! I\’ll ask it. My instinct is that they have a business model based on being a mass-distributor rather than one of being an end-customer chanel. In other words they are good at finding, acquiring and mass-distributing inventory, but they aren\’t set up to sell items one at a time to end user customers.
I would like to know if this vendor has closeouts of good name brand products such as Ralph Lauren and more exclusive brands in clothing. Also home furnishings.
I’m pressed for time, I’m a one man operation, full-time job, dad, school activities, church activities, kids and running an ebay business. What product lines continue to have a good sales history and a good profit margin?
Do they ship overseas - Australia?
What is the average % value to wholesale/retail price?
My wife is interested in trying to find a supplier for Pet items (Frontline, Advantage, etc). Are there some insider secrets we need to know? Also, some of them are made in the US and some overseas. Is there a difference to a prospective eBay buyer? Is there an advantage or disadvantage as a seller to purchase overseas? Thanks and looking forward to the interview.
It seems that when somebody gives “secrets” to an item, it is all over EBay - all of a sudden everybody has it for sale. I have seen this happen more than once and I tried buying in bulk once and this happened to me and I didn’t sell anything. I ended up giving my inventory to charity. Suggestions for this problem, please. Thank you.
I just want to elaborate further on Thomas’s comments (#2 above) by adding that our experience is that it is difficult to get good wholesale products if you live in Canada and when you do find a supplier with reasonable pricing, the cost of shipping kills the opportunity! Canada is a big market but too often overlooked by wholesale sellers. Can you suggest some solutions to allow Canadians to better avail of wholesale opportunites? Thank-you.
1. What is the most unbeleivabley successful product/product line you have come across? What is this product’s/product line’s best season/worst season throughout the year?
2. Do you have a “real time” inventory status checker? I.e., Do you have software that monitors inventory levels in real time?
I hate it when the wholesaler I order from doesn’t keep an accurate inventory of the products I’m interested in buying. This has caused me some greif (and negative feedback) with some of my loyal ebay customers.
Thanks.
Hi Jim,
A similar question to Craig and Thomas’s concerns regarding Canada, but my concern is Hawaii. We are relatively isolated here in the islands, and the cost of shipping to and from Hawaii is high, since “ground” shipping is not an option. I would love to know if there’s any way that purchasing bulk wholesale products could be a viable opportunity for people living here in Hawaii. Thank you, Jim!!
I love your blog and newsletter. My questions are; are there price breaks? If there are price breaks, are they for one item only or are there price breaks for the number of pallets you buy?
#6 had a very good question about the quality of the products. I would like to add bed, bath, shoes, and jewelry products to his list of clothing and home furnishings when you ask this question.
Jim,
This is a question for you and CEO. I have purchased every one of your books.
How long has this co. been in business and what is their return policy?
Thanks,
Wayne Stanila
Hi Jim - I hope there’s still time to get some questions in.
I’d like to know what this individual would do if he lost everything tomorrow - his business down the tubes, no personal wealth and no prospect of financial backing from wealthy friends, financial institutions or other contacts (ie he was faced with starting from scratch like many of your readers).
How would HE go about rebuilding his wealth as quickly as possible?
Would he turn to ebay?
In what niche?
Where would he get supplies (remembering his current business no longer exists!)?
Where else would he turn for revenue streams?
Perhaps other avenues unrelated to the online world that he is seeing customers do well in?
Does this company give enough information on the items that prospective buyers can do their ebay research before purchase?
People ask me all the time where to find products to seel on ebay so i am very interested in this interview!
I would like to know how can I tell if the bulk inventory is shelf pulls, customer returns or new on the market items. Too many times I have found that it is a great price until you get the load and find that it is returns packages opened tags missing. I am wanting to buy in large quanity to get best prices but when it is items no one wants your stuck. How to avoid this is the question. Thanks for your help from 8-6-04 Loraine.
