Great interview with inventory company. He has a nice website too.
Before anyone buys a pallet I recommend that they get/have a manifest (inventory list of each item) You can buy a pallet without a manifest but beware!!! I DID!!!
Recently from another company I ordered a pallet of OVERSTOCKED TOYS (no manifest)These were suppose to be brand new NAME BRAND games, and toys. Well, the pallet arrived 150 miles away (didn’t know that)and we had to rent a U-haul and go and pick this stuff up! Got to the receiving station and this shipment was PURE T JUNK!! Toys were falling out, broken, bent, opened, retaped, stamped void, etc, etc. I WAS HEARTBROKEN!!! Anyway, we loaded the u-haul up with our new found JUNK and went home and re-examined the damages. Found more broken and missing pieces. This was suppose to be a pallet full of $7,000-$8,000 retail value (that I paid $800 for). Turned out that the value of the pallet was less than $100!!! I contacted the company and he did issue me a partial refund (minus shipping and my time + u-haul fees).
Anyway, to make a long story short, we fixed what we could, added batteries where needed and set up a table at our local fleamarket and sold what we could (made about $100) Donated the rest of the GOOD JUNK!!!
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!! Insist on a manifest of all items. Find out where the pallet will be delivered too,. A lot of this stuff is NOT suited for ebay but rather at a FleaMarket (which is ok too)
And with a manifest, you should be able to do a COMPLETED EBAY SEARCH and see what will/will not sell.
I have been reading your newsletters for years. It is crazy how eBay and online marketing has grown and progressed. Your newsletters have consistently helped me stay on top of things.
I have been selling on Ebay for only a few months, but I get so excited about receiving the feedback from my sales (the money isn’t bad either).
At first I figured that when someone paid me for my item, that I owed them a positive feedback, because they did what they were supposed to do…pay me and get their item.
If I sell excellent products and back them up with over-the-top customer service, I should expect positive feedback….
But then it happened; I received my first negative feedback. The customer said that I did not include the sales page (I sell resell rights with Ebooks). Long story short the customer had not bothered to open the zip file to see that everything was there. After many emails and lots of Customer Servicing we agreed to a mutual withdrawal of feedback (I had already left her a positive feedback).
The reality is that Ebay has millions of members and eventually you will encounter someone that does not see things the same way you do. No matter how great your product is, no matter how great your Customer Service is, you will get a negative feedback.
I now wait until I receive a positive feedback before I leave a positive feedback.
My belief is that if you sell an excellent product, provide over-the-top Customer Service, have the “threat†of leaving a negative feedback and know about the “Mutual Feedback Withdrawal†option that Ebay has, you stand a greater chance of maintaining your 100% positive feedback score
