A simple question…

I’m curious how you would answer the below question – please click the comment link and tell me your thoughts after you decide.

THE QUESTION: Which option would you chose?

OPTION ONE: You can have FOUR separate 100% AUTOMATED income streams that each produce $1K per month consistently. (Total $4k/month)

OPTION TWO: You can have ONE income stream that requires a few hours of daily attention and produces $6K or more per month. (Total $6K/month)

What’s your choice?

The way you answer this question reveals a lot about how prepared you are for opportunities that come your way in life. This is especially true online.

Please let me know which of the two options you would choose and why. Click the comment button at the top of this blog post to join the conversation.

Option 1, the automated one. I am trying to learn how to make money from home with minimal time and effort because I collapsed last year and had to take (a very small) early retirement. Right now we're living off savings, and even a "few hours a day" can be more than I can keep up with.

A steady automatic income will provide basic support for us whether I am functional or not while I work on rebuilding me and caring for my family.

I would take option #1 – 4 streams on auto-pilot. The whole purpose of wanting to make a living online, is to be on auto pilot so that you have the time to pursue your dreams, spend more time with you family, etc. Having only one income is as dangerous in this day and age as relying on one job. Anything can happen and you could be broke in a minute. With multiple streams, if one starts to slide, you can build another while still having money coming in to live on. That is my humble 2c worth.

  • Daniel Davis

Jim I looked at the questions and its simple to answer.

Number one is the best for three reasons. 1. consistent doing the tried and true over andover again. 2.Time then is under your control and 3. income is 6he end result of the first two. Optin number 2. just rework it until it fits in the number 1. option and you can then have 10,000.00 income. Thanks dan.

  • Lambert

I would like to do both (1 & 2)for all the reasons stated above.

  • http://cedricfisher.com ced

    I would also pick #1.

Jim, In your current newsletter you use this question to lead into a discussion of the resale blueprint offer. In the letter you state: "John Thornhill has shown me PROVEN results with this strategy. Are you prepared to launch another income stream? You don't have to know HTML, buy any pricey "tools", set up any websites, or do any complicated daily tasks. It's a "set it and forget it" business that you can be proud of."

I bought the program and the first things on the list are buying a domain and setting up a host. What happened to not setting up any websites?

Am I missing something or is this course asking you to set up a website for each niche income stream???

    thanks

[[reply from Jim]]: The fact is you don't need to set up a website. Hosting is just an OPTIONAL place to park your downloads if you chose not to go the "free" route by using email delivery, eBay automated delivery, or a few other "no hosting required" methods. Even if you use a domain you still don't have to have a complex website set up. The bigger point is that this is about as simple as it gets. Those intimidated by the thought of setting up a site can do this.

The overwhelming majority has chosen option #1, which was my first choice when reading your post, however, since I'm currently reading Robert Cialdini's excellent "Persuasion" book, I'm thinking it might be the wrong choice.

Still, multiple AUTOMATIC choices are BETTER, BECAUSE, you can spend those few hours a day generating more multiple income streams.

http://DominatingCraigslist.com is my first membership site "income stream", but it won't be my last.

  • Buffy Thomason

I would also definitely choose Option 1. Like many have said, 4 streams of income will provide less risk, and since it requires less upkeep, you would be free to pursue even more streams of income (plus enjoy life!).

Keep up the great work, Jim. I love the information and appreciate your easy-going style!

Maybe Jim hasn't read the Resale Rights Blueprint course that he pitched to us all?

In your email you said no website to deal with. Well….

The course devotes day 1 and 2 to domains and hosting. Day 4 is about creating a 4 page website for sales and optin page.

I thought you researched and recommend only the good stuff. It's not as easy as you made out in the pitch for the course.

    Jim

I learned years ago to have more than one source of income. Option one has the best short and long term value. After you get one source going add another and another until you get 4 sources??? Keep adding. I agree with others that one source can go backwards at anytime even from the get go. With option 1, a person doesn't limit themselves. With option 2 a person has limits on time and income as well.

    Francis

[[reply from Jim]]: I'm sorry if I overstated the simplicity, but the fact is you DON'T have to have a website to do this business…John himself will tell you that. It certainly ramps up your results once you are going, but it's not a requirement. If that detail causes someone to lose interest I'll back up John's refund policy with one of my own.

  • Lenora Jaske

I would pick number 1. I'd rather have 4 coming in than just 1.

  • http://StupidSpyware.com ced

Maybe that could be the next course someone writes (step by step)

How to run this with out a website.

I get very bogged down with website building and adsense etc. I was hoping for a set it and forget it solution selling ebooks on ebay. One that actually made money, that is :-)

    thanks for you honest replys

I think the smart thing to do here would be to set up option #1 once it is generating 4K a month automated then I would spend the free time I have and put it towards option #2. Then I would use some the money generated to build some more automated businesses, for security and to keep myself busy.

  • Jim

I'm really late on this one, but Number One would be the choice between the two.

The second option could be implemented by starting it and training an employee on an incentive basis to keep it maintained, increasing value, and providing the customer support. With minimal oversight it could potentially generate yet another stream. :)

Option #1 is my answer though. Happy New Year to You!

  • Tracy

I would definitely choose Option 1. That way if everything else fails and things stop producing then you have other options available to you instead of just one.

  • Larry Salazar

Option 1 seems to be the best choice. If one source dries up you have the other three.

  • Carl Tambeau

I would definitely choose 1 as diversifying is the best strategy. Lose one income stream and still have 3, sounds much better than losing one and everything. The old saying "Don't put all your eggs in one basket" makes sense even for the online business world.

  • peter

well the 1st choice does not state how much time is needed to establish the 4k/month, and all opportunities need some effort/ time to put to work, so my choice would be #2 put some minor steady effort on a daily basis for that stream of income to generate 6k/month, that's my thought's on the 2 choices, thanks , peter

  • http://www.seo-searchengineplacement.com Search engine placem

I think that I would choose option 2, but would immediately be working on more streams of income.

    Dane Laster

  • LT

In addition to #1 having multiple income streams (much smarter) I also read this to mean that #1 requires little daily effort once set up. Simply put…TIME IS MONEY (my time saved is worth far more than the 2K difference). I want to live my life!

  • Kehinde

I choose option 1, firstly, because is automated and secondly, is residual income thus I can make my money even when I am asleep. I also like option 1, because is multiple streams of income. I love financial freedom.

  • http://www.your-career-change.com Peter F

I know in my heart that it should be option 1 because I already tried option 2 (without realizing it) and spend several hours attending my 'authority' site trying to wring some revenue out of it.

I now know exactly where my efforts will be in future as I've just started reading the 'Silent Sales Machine'

  • Kathleen

Without a doubt – I would choose 4 sites over 1. I don't like the idea of putting all my eggs in one basket. It would be just my luck that the basket would unravel at the bottom and I'd loose all my eggs at once. THEN WHAT?!? Better I should spread out the risk and build on it.

  • http://www.profittrick.com Marc

Of course option 1. And I'd use the free time it gave me to create more passive income streams, set up systems that allow me to leverage my new resources and grow from thereon. I don't mind putting in several hours a day as long as there is progress happening.

  • http://gingergaillard.webs.com Ginger Gaillard

    Hi Jim.

I would choose option *1. I prefer automated multiple streams of income. This leaves more time to create other streams or just duplicate the first four.

I also just love lots of free time!!

  • BILL TEAGUE

    Jim,

I would choose the option 1 because even though the returns are less, you would possibly have more flexibility to increase one or more of them without running the risk of loosing ground on just one source.

  • BRIGITTE SAYSTER

    Hi Jim,

Definitely Option 1. You are guaranteed 4K every month without having to do anything because it is an automated system.

  • http://www.nichemarketinglessons.com/ Timothy Aaron Whisto

My business is built around the concept of Model #1. I could claim this is some strategic set up or whatever but the truth is I just enjoy the distraction value of having multiple irons in the fire.

I know people who have ONE primary venture that makes them a fortune. And I know people who, like me, generate a good total income via multiple streams.

I don't believe there's a right and wrong here. It's about individual motivation.

  • Bethne

option 1. My reasons are my own

  • Charles

None of above. Why, simply because what good would it do? If you have no control of your traffic. Your showing an model or example of what could be. But only if you have control of

your traffic. If you think I am wrong just look at (Google). They control there traffic and making a ton of money. So, try teaching people how too get traffic not money. Because with out traffic their is no money.

  • bill

Option 1 because it's automated income and doesn't require any more work which for me is the goal, complete hands-off income. I hate, loath, despise and detest work.

  • Jesse Lovingood

I'm with the #1 folks. I have a full-time day job and like the concept of less time spent. And . . . the money is quite acceptable at that level.

  • Mark Timpson

I have known about the concept of royalty income for over 25 yrs and to my shame settled for the traditional money for hours model despite several good opportunities in this area. The inevitable outcome of the job system, i can guarantee anyone, is being broke, financially, time-wise or in your spirit. I'm finally ready to harness the incredible power of internet marketing and as an ex advertising man you don't just stick with one client' you are constantly pitching for new business, so for me it's option 1 and don't stop at 4!

  • Angus Martin

I would certainly take option 1,in case one or more streems begin to fail. However, I would also add option 2 to increase my total income.

  • Yves Despois

Option #1 for diversity, but more important for me, the freedom.

The daily hours spend in Option #2 can be used for personnal and family activities, or at least, part of it can be used to generate an other income stream which do not requires daily maintenance.

  • Renee

    Option 1 – Simple question

  • jennifer

Option #1 for the diversity would be my choice.

  • http://tigertig.co.uk kirstan

Option 1) but why stop at just 4 streams of income if you have them automated you could go for a lot more.

Option 1) means you can walk way and let it do the work for you, that has to be better than option 20) were you are tied to one place for hours. Give me my Freedom any day Please.

  • joe

I'd take the four income streams. You work once and get paid forever. No more of trading my time for pennies.

  • Ron

Option 1 is the one that I would use. It would be less time and you could add to it.

  • http://www.thecondor1.com Ray Houghton

4 streams is my choice, more options, less eggs in the basket and 4 ways to incease streams over time, definitely 4 streams for me!

  • http://www.capefearweddingminister.com Dale Curtis

Option 1 makes sense without knowing the 'multiple steams of income' concept.

  • Billie

I would definitely go with Option 1 – as it seems would most of the folks who have answered this question above! Fully automatic is very appealing!

  • Meg

I would go with option one.

    1. Four streams of income are better than one, as if one failed, there are still the other three.

    2. The income is automated rather than option two, where I'd have to spend a couple of hours a day.

    3. This gives me time to set up another or more streams of income.

  • Ed

Option 1 contains the kernel to your entire strategy, Jim.

  • http://www.iwanttobemad.com Michael Costello

Option 1 – give it to me!

  • Dana

Option 1 leaves time for expansion

  • http://www.margovideos.com Margocale

Most people seem to have chosen option 1 on the basis of not leaving your eggs in all basket.

However if you are working to create a business would you not go for option 2 and then whilest it was working move onto your next project to create a similar return.

  • Gloria

I'd have to choose Option 2. You did say it was a "consistent"$6000 a month.I could do a lot with that extra $2000 a month, including having the time to set up further streams.I am not a greedy person, however it would be nice to have that kind of income considering most of my adult life-until now-I've worked at helping to make someone else wealthy.

  • kay

I'm sure to many the one business earning 6K is tempting to some, but I would choose the 4 streams earning 4K. If one income stream slows down, you would have the others in place.

  • Brian

I would choose option 1 so you could moniter which one does the best
