What is your advice for Tim this Christmas?

Below is an email I got literally minutes ago. My response to the email is below that.

What do you have to say to Tim? Leave a comment below and lets support Tim with our encouragement this Christmas season.

Jim,
My wife Linda bought me your book “Silent Sales Machine” in hopes it would help my need to be successful at a online business.

I find myself in  a position of being disabled, but still with a drive of not being disabled. I just cannot accept that this is all there is.

While not having the income yet to do much of anything, I still have the drive, but I really don’t know what to do with it. I am still in the process of reading your book.

I am a slow reader these days, and would love to share with you my thoughts.

Thanks Jim for sounding like you care, and look forward to reading the rest of your book.

Best Regards, Tim

My reply back to Tim:

Tim-

The beauty of Internet business is that success isn’t reliant on gender, sex, education, technical skill, looks, physical abilities, or even intelligence! (Trust me I have proof!)

There is a world of opportunity out there and I hope something you read in my books, blog or sites inspires you on to bigger things than you ever imagined.

Hang in there and make your mind your sharpest tool. It’s all you need in this new world.

God Bless you and Merry Christmas!

Hey Tim, My husband is disabled too. He gets Social Security for Heart Failure, diabetes & crippling gout. When he was first diagnosed, he was soo depressed because he though he was useless. Only that wasnt so! He know how to fix comupters and other small electronic devices like cell phones & Dvd players.
I sew, mostly for weddings I alter the gowns.
Thru my clients I let them know about my hubby Steve, and because they are local, it works.
And I have on my about me page that he can fix things, and on facebook. So he satys very busy. His income thru social security is enough. This income thru fixing things is mostly to keep him busy and feeling well. But you know what? Lately he has been earning more than the SS payments! We keep track of everything and yes he has to report this income to IRS, but so be it!
I would tell you to figure out what hobbies you have you still can do, then find a way to make money with it. Check out Jims site all over, there is lots of help there.
One book I would say to read ( found in most libraries) is Dan Millers 48 days to the work you love….You can read more about Dan at http://www.48days.com….Many blessings to you, Diana

    Tim,

Being a fellow “slow reader” first thing I would advise is getting the audio for SSM. This way you just have to sit and listen.

If you ride around in your car then listen to that instead of the dribble that is on the radio.

As to what specifically to do completely depends on what you can and want to do.

If you know how to sell stuff on ebay there is a market for selling things on eBay.

If you do not have your own stuff, then sell other peoples stuff. That is how I got started.

If you have a passion for something then start a blog. I don’t want to go into detail how you can monetize that but trust me you can.

    If Internet Marketing is the path you want to pursue and it certainly is not the one and only path to pursue but it is profitable if done correctly. The core strategy is this;

Pick a niche, any niche that you feel passionate about. Work on finding people with that similar passion. Get them to opt into your mailing list in exchange for information they would find valuable. Then continually follow up with more content and tell them about products or services that are out there that you think they should try that have an affiliate program in place. Trust now in days almost all do.

Granted this is an overly simplified procedure but it does work and I am sure Jim C. can speak more as to how to fill in the details that I left out

Just what little I know of you it sounds like one passion may be that you are disabled, but you do not want to be defined that way. I personally think that there may be something right there. I know several people that feel the same way. My wife for one.

Tim, God bless you for hanging in there and looking into your options. You are not alone. I have MS and we have a son with a disability(ies) as well, velocardiofacial syndrome, plus 3 other children. My hubby and I are learning niche blogging and other alternative ways to earn income too… I know Jim has an outstanding reputation online. I look forward to reading the responses you get. Here is an excellent resource I have found as well…www.thedisabilitydigest.com. They can help with not only being able to get disability but ways to supplement it, etc. I wish you the very best on your journey.

    Tim,

Dan Miller is a good resource. He is listed in our New Years resolution success guide which is free from the link above.

If you contact me through the support link at the website, I will give you free access to two of my products which can help you get a quick start.

(One is an interview series which includes a great interview on overcoming limitations with someone who suffered a major accident)

No sales or upsells involved, just my Christmas gift to you because Jim seems like a good guy.

    All the best,

    Mike

Tim, one of my favorite poems is Don’t Quit. If you want to send me your email I will be happy to send it to you. I will tell you there is only one way to fail – give up and quit. I don’t tell many people this but if it gives you hope I will give you my brief story. 8 years ago I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I actually went into a diabetic coma. My children were called and told I would probably not leave the hospital alive. Apparently they were wrong because I am still here and my diabetes is under control without insuln injections. 5 years ago (Dec. 8, 2004) I received a liver transplant. Left the hospital after 6 days only to return for a 19 day stay when I contracted five different viruses – the doctors thought I would die. With the grace of God I defied the odds and am obviously still here. Today, my wife and I run a full time eBay business. Thanks party to Jim, I am about to publish my first book. I have also designed and developed a software application for eBay sellers that will have no competition.

In case you may be thinking I am a well educated, highly inteligent person – I’m not. I did not finish college. I consider one of my strenghts is my unwillingness to quit and give up. I will end the way I started only with a quote from Winston Chusrchill, when faced with insurmountable odds during WW II his public statement consisted of the following:

“Don’t ever, ever, ever, ever give up”. Heed that advice and you too will find a way to succeed at life.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Just to save you some time and with Jim’s indulgence here is the poem;

    Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
    When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

    Don’t give up, Tim!

As others have said, focus on what you know and what you love. Lot’s of people, when they think of starting a business online, think they have to sell something they know nothing about. They completely overlook the things they know about.

Starting a business is enough of a learning curve without also needing to learn about something you know nothing about! With the things you know and love, you’ve already had experience with them. You know the ins and outs of them. You know the problems you’ve encountered and how to overcome them.

Feel that what you know isn’t enough to help anyone else? Then consider this, whatever you know anything about, people know even less about it than you do. The level of knowledge you already have can help them immeasurably!

If you’re reading Jim’s book, you’re already getting some great ideas on how to use the resources you already have at your disposal to help others find what they need — and make money in the process.

Don’t be afraid to take the step. Whatever you already have is enough to get started with. As you build momentum (and revenues) with what comes out of your initial efforts, you can always grow what you’re doing larger and more profitable.

Just get started. Don’t sit back and feel that you have to learn absolutely everything before you take that first step. Trust me, you’ll learn more by taking action than you will from simply trying to absorb everything before you start.

    Good luck!

  • Dion Wright

Hi Tim. I read your letter and i feel for your situation because mine is similar, but what i noticed more is that you have a strong willpower and a strong mind so whatever your condition may seem like, YOU CAN OVERCOME IT.

My advice would be for you to work on your positivity so you don’t get frustrated when things seem to take longer than you feel they should. Remember to breathe as much as you can when the things around you aren’t going as you planned.

Also, Claude Bristol wrote what he called the mirror technique, and it works like this. Every day you look at your left eye in the mirror and you repeat one positive statement about yourself for 15 minutes. Such as:

    ‘I can __, and i will __. And now, how will i __ today?’

or anything like that is helpful and gets you in the right frame of mind.

I hope you are well. Try it out for a month and see if it helps you think more positively and also develop patience, because sometimes things take a little longer but that’s no reflection on your ability, it may just be a way life has of helping you to refine your patience. Peace.

Hi Tim, I too find myself disabled and not able to do what I once was able to do. I was fortunate to be able to get a computor to go to work on but then not having any real skills I had to start by reading. I have read so much now that if I had gone to a college maybe they would give me a degree! Hah! Anyway for me reading kept my mind working even though my body would not so much. I would read about how to do things, like edit a web site or to FTP files. It was not easy and difficult to get help but I keep at it and will not give up as there is nothing left for me to do if I quit. So never quit.
I now have more then several blogs and websites that eek out a small amount each month. When I show friends or family the sites they all say how nice they look and I continue to get visitors so I must be doing something right.

So again Tim, never say never and never give up. God Bless

Hello Tim, This is the best way I can put it..

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

    “You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”

Bless You and Have A Merry Christmas.

Tim: You are not done by a long shot. I agree with Jim on the fact you have a brain and know how to use it. You can read and thats huge.
Read thru Jim’s book. Now go back and read it again and do exactly as he says in his book with #1.set up a site on ebay. Then do what he tells you for #2 #3 (etc)
I am not handicapped but,I am older.I thought I had a handle on the ebay thing until I couldn’t sell hardly anything. I bought Jim’s book and backed up to kind of start allover with step #1 (etc)I have just started by puting up a few things the last couple of days and am following his advice. He’s already proven it works.
I wish you well Tim and you sure did ask the right guy what to do and how to do it.
    My best to you.Doni Healy

Read the book through 2 or 3 times Tim and let it all settle in. It has taken me a long time to get to grips with the internet and producing my own products, but I now have my own ebook up for sale and a few affiliate websites. Even if you only earn a few dollars or pounds it’s a great thrill when the money just seems to roll in. You could have a look at http://www.daverobus.com for a bit of inspiration from a 62 year old youngster.

Happy Christmas to you and all on Jim’s site,

Hello Tim, Some time ago I purchased a publishing program along with Jim’s program and it helped me to start thinking in far different terms. Today I have a couple of books published and I manufacture and sell bagpipes, Irish Flutes, and Harps. A few years back I couldn’t have imagined that this is where I would be. None the less, here I am. Find something the resonates with you, research the hell out of it, and dont be afraid to take chances.
    Wishing You the Best,

    Tim,
Your wife is very wise buying you Jim’s book. what a great place to start…at the top!

The Internet is a great equalizer. When you begin learning, working, and creating value for others no one is concerned with your disability.

There is no such thing as a “Fixed Income” on the Internet.

    Regards,
    Jim

    Hi Tim:

In my eyes you are doing great just by taking that first step in reading the book. I am a handi-caped individual and all I have at this time in my life is what is inbetween my shoulders. I never found it easy doing this internet thing, but I have been able to stay with it and am getting results as you will also. I am unable to get around but I also found that I don’t need to use any excuses to succeed and you will be able to succeed also. Read that book and write down every important fact you read then re-read those written facts and start taking the action that is needed to put it all together and what ever you do remember to believe in yourself and there will be no limit to what you can accomplish.

    God Bless and Take Care
    John

    Tim,

I pray that you will have all the success you can believe you’re capable of. No matter what you do, don’t ever give up on your beliefs or your dreams. They will sustain you in the toughest of times.

I am currently where you are, facing the possibility of being disabled or pursuing my dream. If (or I should say) when I am successful I will build a $246,000 internet business that will support myself, my wife, my son, my father and others while impacting my local community.

No, I haven’t done it yet, and it may take longer than the 12 to 18 months I have alloted, but my father taught me a long time ago the power of perseverence, sticking to a goal until you reach it. Jim Cockrum, along with others, has taught me the power of one, that special power that lies within all men to reach a goal and help others along the way.

I believe in God, I believe in myself, I believe in good folks like Jim Cockrum who are paving the way for folks like you and me, and I believe in you.

May you find your way prosperous and have a joyous holiday season,

    Your friend, David

    My comments for Tim

    Hi Tim

Thank you for your email. It has truly touched my heart and I appreciate the faith you have in me to help guide you along this journey to create an online income.

I want to encourage you with this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us”

I truly believe that if you set your heart towards a goal and put your passion, commitment and efforts behind it and don’t quit, you will become very successful.

The world is full of successful people who hang on to their dreams and continue taking small baby steps every day

Thank you for choosing me to be your Internet business mentor. I am here to support you and I sincerely wish you all the very best in your online success.

    Hi Tim,
Hang in there and keep at it!
I suffered a series of strokes five years ago and was told I would be lucky to walk again, far less function normally! (The doctors in Scotland are fairly blunt!)
Seventeen months after telling the doctors to ‘Watch this space’ I was walking around, albiet with a limp, and ready to take on the world again! But with any prospective employer reluctant to take on what one actually called ‘A ticking time bomb of liability’ my only recourse was to try Internet marketing (or begging!)
I am still a relative ‘newbie’ but things are looking more promising with each new skill I learn. I may not be out of the woods yet, but the trees are thinning out!
There is no ‘quick fix’ in this game, just keep your head down and learn learn learn, then apply!
Best wishes for your future success, and, Merry Christmas from Scotland!
    Ronnie

Tim,if you are on disability you need to check if you are allowed to make money and if so how much. i am on workers compensation disability and not allowed to make any money. And i sure wouldn’t do anything to jepadise my case or benefits. For me its real hard because i’ve read and follow jim and internet msarketing but am not legally allowed to make money. if you find out you can make money go for it. follow jim for sure and avoid all the crap information that is out there. He has a membership site that i think is $19.95 a month. thats all you need. And if you are allowed to make money and it goes to high your wife can be part of your business.Go for it tim…make the money I can’t !!!

[reply from Jim]: Gail – I’m sorry to say this and I hope it doesn’t offend you, but if I were you I wouldn’t settle for the breadcrumbs of disability benefits. There is a MASSIVE injustice built into a system that gives you the incentive of a tiny compensation in exchange for you promising not to contribute to society with your business ideas. I’m beyond irritated, beyond annoyed and somewhere near irrationally infuriated just thinking about it. The world needs your ideas. Donate the business earnings to a charity until you are earning enough to tell the “system” they can keep their petty breadcrumbs because you have bigger plans. Don’t settle for the kindness of strangers to cover you the rest of your life if you are capable of contributing more.

    Thm,
Your wife has tanken the first step by purchasing Jim’s book. You have taken the second step by reading the book. What you do with those steps from here on in will determine your success. Reading Jim’s book will only be a good read if you don’t put into action what he is teaching you. Don’t try and do everything he suggests at one time. Take one idea and start working with it. When you can get to produce some income tweak it and make it grow. Once that income stream is working for you, then and only then do you move onto the next idea. It may take you a month or it may take a year to get it working… it will work if you follow Jim’s instructions. If you get stuck there are hundreds of folks on the forums who will help you. Don’t be afraid to ask. I would wish you good luck, but good luck hardly ever wins…. only hard work wins in the end.

  • Myke

You have a lot of people pulling for you.

On the practical side I found Potpiegirl.com (I know weird name) to be quite helpful. Get her ebook about making Squidoo lenses. The process of making the lenses will teach you a lot of skills that you can take with you.
Wordpress.com will host a Blog for you with lots and lots of pretty templates. Blogger.com will do the same. The great thing about all these things is the price. A measly no cost to you!

When you think you can afford to invest in furthering your internet adventures, get a better (Faster) internet connection if you can.

Always make sure your purchase of ebooks, guides, courses, so on, are via click bank or paydotcom that way you can get your money back if dissatisfied and you will be frequently. I don’t know how much money this has saved me when I would buy a “I broke the code” ebook only to find I had bought a $20.00 infomercial.

The only way to regularly get what you desire from God, is to desire what ever it is, he has already decided to give you.

  • http://www.mortgageloans-withbadcredit.com Adelle

    Tim,
I am not handicapped but have found that I’m OLD in the eyes of the workplace.
And that has actually turned into a blessing because now I am working from home on the internet and enjoying it a whole lot more than my corporate America jobs.
It takes a while to get the hang of everything. There are so many ways to make money on the internet and when you don’t make a fortune as promised by the sales page of so many products, then your tempted to jump to the next thing.
Don’t. Pick one way of making money and focus on it until you see the money coming in. It may not be a lot but you will learn and begin to feel confident and know that it can work. Then take that knowledge and build on it and with time you will find you have a profitable internet business.
It is a great opportunity to learn something new and create your own online business.

  • Jan S

    Hi Tim,

What a neat thing that your wife bought Jim’s book for you! That’s a great start. Jim’s got some terrific ideas and education in his book, and on this sites. Not everything has to be done at once. Take small, steady steps, learning along the way.

Living with the frustration of not being able to do what you used to be able to do take a lot of adjustment. But, there can be a new normal. I have had disability/medical issues for 25+ years, but there’s lots of things we all can contribute. My intellectually disabled daughter has reached out and literally touched lives around the world through the small, seemingly insignificant project that she does for others. All can make a difference, Tim, and that includes you!! Don’t give up in frustration!!

Check out http://www.thedisabilitydigest.com for valuable information regarding disability related issues of all sorts. There is also information regarding starting your own business. May God guide you His way, and I wish you a prosperous New Year.

First of all, quit wallowing in self-pity, get over it–NOW. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, as I perceived from your email.

Not knowing the extent of your disability is a quandry in itself.

Is your wife your caregiver? If so, it would be nice if she helped you in your endeavors to succeed in business, but don’t count on it for very long. Caregivers have a life too, as well I know. (I was a caregiver for over 15 years; 24 hrs a day every one of those years; I know of what I speak.)

Look at it as having a second life; one that is completely different and new, and will take some time to acclimate thereto.

If you have the drive and motivation, the time will fly by faster than you think.

    Best in your endeavors.

    Hi Tim,
    I once heard someone say,
    “The bigger the problems,
    The bigger the success!”
You are destined for fabulous successand we are all here to celebrate it with you.

  • Jeffrey

Tim , you are on your way! You have Jim’s book and the DRIVE to succeed because you stated in your letter to Jim that:

“I find myself in a position of being disabled, but still with a DRIVE of not being disabled. I just CANNOT ACCEPT that this is all there is.”

Stay focus, don’t give up, you can make this on-line income thing work for you. It will not happen overnight but it happen if YOU want it.

Merry Christmas and may you and yours have a Safe and Joyful Holiday Season!

  • Tom

    Tim,

Whatever you do listen to Jim. Jim is definitely one of the good guys in the
    online world.

He hasn’t steered me wrong yet!

My other advice to you is try to put
your passion uper most in your mind
when you’re trying to figure out exactly
what type of business you want to start
    online.

    Don’t do what some other gurus advise;
namely going where the big money is for
any one category/topic. Instead, try to drill down into one of your interests
where you may find some underserviced niche.

    Hope this helps,

    Tom

Napoleon Hill has a quote: “What ever the mind can conceive, and believe, the mind can achieve.”

I am very inspired and encouraged by your drive and not allowing your disability to stop you… Keep going Tim, you will be amazed by what you have set out to achieve.

Reading Jim’s book is a great starting point as he is a genuine person and has a lot of wisdom to share…

I wish you well and I look forward to hearing about your journey and victories.

    Kind regards,

The Silent Sales forum (MySilentTeam.com) is possibly one of the worst offenders!

You are like the horse that starved between two mangers of hay, because he couldn’t decide which one to eat first.

Pick a good idea. Make it work. Pick the next.

I’m a good example of what not to do. I try too many things at once.

    Ian McAllister

[reply from Jim]: One of the things you have to be aware of when you join MySilentTeam.com is the potential to be a bit overwhelmed with the good ideas that are there. Take on the ones that make the most sense for you before moving on…but know that all of the ideas DO WORK!

Hi Tim…You might be “disabled” but you’re
NOT down and out like a lot of people. You
can still be very productive person with the
mindset and the drive that you’ve got. I think it’s a very positive thing that you’re
doing by not allowing your disability to get
in the way of your drive. Without drive and a goal you’re “dead in the water”. With
drive and a goal “you can achieve anything the mind can conceive”. Keep on course and
don’t let anyone dampen your drive.

    My advice to Tim :

Sucess in life and business is a journey and not a destination. To internalize success and
feel like he is accomplishing a worthy goal, each day take the following positive actions

    1. Read several chapters of ” Silent Sales Machine” to become familiar with the content each day
2.After reading these chapters, mentally summarize the content read to internalize it.
    3. After this mental summary, integrate this information with the information learned from the
    previous session.
    4. Continue these daily sessions until the ” Silent Sales Machine” has been read cover to cover.
This first reading will make him familiar with the material.
5 Now we start with the second reading of ” Silent Sales Machine” to “understand “the material
covered and feel more confident and comfortable with eCommerce and eBay in particular.
    6. After he has this confidence and knowledge, the ” AHA” idea will lead him to the realization
that he needs very little of his own money to start selling on eBay
    7. This knowledge builds the foundation that will propel him to build his business.

Thank you for asking for my advice.

backup plan when things start to go wrong, and they become stuck without
resources or ideas. Shakespeare wrote in Julius Caesar: “There is a tide in

the book to him, and discuss it with him…. he may find them at libraries,
or perhaps a student volunteer, and he has opportunities to use his
remaining talents to sell on eBay by using the computer, or mentoring
others… or any number of things that may bring in income and change his
perception of his current situation. The key is attitude and perception of
his circumstances…. He is fortunate to want to succeed, and he is blessed
to have those close to him who want to see him succeed!

Hi there I enjoyed your article. I think that it’s crucial when discussing diabetes to at least refer to natural treatments that have been shown to be efficient in controlling high blood glucose. Various natural herbs can be including in a diabetics routine that will help preserve a wholesome sugar level.
