Jim’s bold Internet Marketing predictions for the next decade

Use twitter? Please click the green retween button. Feel free to change the tweet before posting it.

1. Being an “author” will slowly stop being a big deal. Pretty soon EVERYONE will be an author. Ten years ago the idea of having your very own print on demand self published book was outlandish. Ten years from now it will be common place. For now it’s still impressive to tell people “I’m an author”. Take advantage of that. Get your ideas out there NOW. Use YouTube, articles, a blog, an ebook whatever…but be an AUTHOR. Be an expert. It’s NEVER been easier.

2. Real world business will continue to be confounded by the fast paced business style of the Internet. Take advantage of this trend by joining OfflineBiz.com.  Members of that site stay up to date on what works online without having to be a technical nerd to make it all happen.

3. The car you drive, the house you live in, the ‘toys’ you have etc. will mean less and less compared to your “influence” as measured by your online audience. Strange things will happen in the world of business as the “little guy” destroys the big guy. For example, A 13 year old in a small town in nowhere Nebraska will bring companies like Pepsi Co. to its knees because of the loyalty and size of his audience on Youtube. Influence is the new gold standard. Grow your audience and give them reasons to be loyal.

4. Good ideas, great ideas, bad ideas, wrong ideas and all sorts of other ideas will continue to pound and distract the masses. To get things done you need a clear mission and you must follow a clear path with supportive peers along side. That’s what MySilentTeam.com is all about. Find a community and support it. Grow with it. Start your own community. For goodness sakes BE PART OF A GROWING COMMUNITY ONLINE.

5. It’s going to get harder and harder to be a “scammer” online. The honest and worthy will rise even more quickly and the bad guys will fall faster than ever. Honesty will be very self serving to the point that even the dishonest at heart will start to catch on and use these strange new tactics called “honesty and customer service” as a self preservation tool.  Customers are already demanding the twitter feed of CEO’s before they’ll buy a widget…it’s going to get worse (or better depending on your perspective).

6. There will be no such thing as “bad content” online. It will get harder and harder for junk to raise to the top. The good will get better and the bad will disappear.

7. Those reading this article will be followed by HUNDREDS or even THOUSANDS who are eager to learn the secrets of this online business world that they’ve always scoffed at. Suddenly WE are the smart ones that have job security while they are getting laid off from big companies (like Pepsi that was forced into layoffs when it got nearly shut down by a 13 year old a few paragraphs ago).

8. Thousands of new ways to profit from all of the changes will continue to FALL INTO THE LAPS of those paying attention. Change = opportunity. This is going to be a decade of massive rapid changes on and offline. Pay attention and enjoy the ride! All of this “change” is stirring up a lot of business possibilities!

You can’t afford NOT to buy a MAC as your next computer

Please click the green retweet if you have twitter ->

I have a theory to share and I think you’ll thank me later.

There is a good chance that your next computer MUST BE A MAC.

This is coming from a die hard PC guy.

For me 90% of what I do on my computer involves internet access. I need a reliable computer that turns on quickly, switches from screen to screen quickly, and doesn’t lock up. It needs to be fast and stay fast. That’s all I ask.

I’ve ALWAYS been a PC guy…until recently. My last real job was selling Microsoft software to 90% PC guys and we always scoffed at the Mac crowd as being artsy fartsy.

CONFESSION: A few weeks ago I bought an iMac and I LOVE IT. No going back.

Here’s how the mac trend sneaked into our home…

I won a mac notebook about a year and a half ago (in an affiliate contest where I was so close to beating Frank Kern for the top spot) and I quickly gave it to my wife so she could blog and do her social thing online with it.  I started noticing something though…when I would borrow her 6 month, 1 year and even 18 month old MAC to jump online and do something ‘quick’ it ALWAYS worked and was ALWAYS fast.

I’m not a mac geek by any means, but fast and dependable internet access are a must. I was so impressed that I bought my own iMac.

It took me about one hour to transition over…I’ve hardly touched my old PC notebook since.

It’s nice to be able to hop into my office to check something on my iMac and hop out 30 seconds later having completed the task. That was never possible with my windows machines except for the first few days out of the box.

At some point the few hundred more dollars you need to buy a mac really makes sense especially if it means taking back control of minutes or even hours of your day. I can get so much more done in a day now that a MAC would have been worth it even if it would have costs me three times more than it did.

What do you think? Let’s chat it out in the comments…please leave your thoughts below. Am I nuts? Are you thinking about a mac? Have I convinced you?

Google likes Jim Cockrum better than eBay apparently!

THE QUESTION: Who does Google like better?  eBay.com or little ol’ ME?

It looks like in at least one big example Google picks ME!

PROOF: Do a google search on the term ‘ebay classified ads’.

As of today (and for the last several months) eBay’s very own site with the SAME TITLE ‘ebayclassifiedads.com’ appears BELOW my youtube video on the subject.

Now to avoid confusion, my youtube video on the subject is about the classified ads that appear on the actual eBay site where there is actually a LOT of traffic that sees the ads. Watch the youtube video to see what I mean.

ebay classified ads

…while the ebayclassifiedads.com site is a pretty blatant attempt on eBay’s part to try to steal some thunder (aka market share) from craigslist.com.

Good luck eBay…I fear you are too late. NO ONE uses eBayclassifiedsads.com that I know of…but it is officially owned, promoted, and search engine optimized by the billions of dollars behind eBay.com…and they must HATE that I show up above them.

Hey eBay and Google…when you ‘do lunch’ sometime to sort this all out mind if I come along? If eBay is picking up the tab I’ll have surf and turf (lobster and steak). If Google is picking up the tab I’ll buy instead in exchange for a PR8 for my blog (PR8 = a lot more google love for lil’ ol’ Jimbo).

You don’t need a website – you need an audience!

You are being lied to!

Did you know that building a website is probably THE WRONG WAY to start your online success?

It’s such a shame that many people get fooled into starting at that point though. Listen to this short recording to find out the proper order of things. It’s about 10 minutes long and will be some of the best big picture advice I can possibly give you.

This is some foundational stuff I’m giving you today. It’s like a reset button for your brain if you find yourself a bit overwhelmed. Maybe you feel new to all of this and you are heading in a bad direction, or you’ve been around awhile and you’ve forgotten what the ground rules are for success online. Either way let me know what you think – I’m trying to keep it simple with my advice.

Some links I mention in the audio:

My FaceBook page

Aweber.com – the “autoresponder” or “buld email management” tool that all Internet Marketers need to learn to use

SilentSalesMachine.com – the book that is foundational to my concepts.

And finally – the “report card” site that ranks me at the TOP of all current Internet Marketing Experts! Wow – I’m honored!
