AWESOME!  I am now adding this service to my local SEO business and just this week am working on pricing options.  Two questions:

    1) Any tips on getting Google to allow you to verify by PHONE instead of postcard?

    2) Do you charge for recurring services – and what might those be?  (Citations, reviews… do you add reviews for clients somehow?

    THANK YOU.

Hi Diana, Google decides how it’s going to allow for approval. Sometimes it’s by letter only, sometimes by phone only, and sometimes you get both options. There is no way to choose unless you happen to get both options.

Yes, we charge for recurring services. The program explains exactly how we do that, and it explains reviews, citations, audits and more!

Woke up this morning to find the status changed on all my Google Place
    pages from “active” to “pending”
    The message given is:
This listing needs to be reviewed further before appearing on Google. Please allow several weeks.
I’m talking about 24 customer Place Pages that have been up and running for months.
Anyone know what is going on?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Hi Tom, usually this means that the Google Monster is unhappy with something contained within the Google Places page. One way to straighten this out is to look at the course Jim is referring to and figure out what (if any) mistakes might have been made. If you want one of our staff to look at it, we do charge a fee, but are happy to make recommendations for changes. Valerie

Thanks Valerie. Unbelievably, all the sites are back on “active” status this morning. Makes me nervous to be so vulnerable to the whims of Google.

I agree!!  I didn’t even know that my site was pending.  I stumbled on it by mistake and it cost me a LOT of money at my busiest time of year.  Now I check it daily-I don’t trust google-they don’t even give you a warning or email letting you know of the status change!!

I am very intrigued by this and have been doing some research. In Valerie’s training, does she show us HOW to set this up for the client and also what is the benefit to them if they can just do it themselves?
    Thanks,
    Patti

It’s not really a matter of being complicated, it’s simply not possible. This is something to do for your clients who have local brick and mortar locations. Valerie

Whoa, that is not true.  While you can’t use P.O Boxes in your address you can set up places for people who are mainly online.  I have done it!  There are a number of ways.

      1.  Use their home address as their business Residence.
      2.  Use the Street Address (NOT THE P.O BOX #) of the postal service and append a Suite # to it.

Then, in the GP listings be sure to add service areas…Heck, in their TOS they even mention something to this effect for mobile/online business people…will try to tfind the link.

BTW, I have done this with several clients without a hitch…
Just be sure to use whatever address you use in your GP everywhere else.

      Peace,

      Chris

Can we benefit from your course if we have already set up a Google Places account or is it too late once it is has been set up?

    • Valerie says

      July 21, 2011 at 5:22 pm

Hi BillB, once a google places page is set up there is ALWAYS room for improvement and anything can be changed to perform better, so no, it’s not too late!

    Hi Valerie!
Thanks for sharing all the important information. I have some questions.
First, you mention sending existing customers to a landing page to capture their review before getting them directly into Google Places for a review. If the review is good, how do you get the review posted? Do you do it yourself, or do you send the customer a link to the places page and have them resubmit it there?
Second, for the citations, in your course do you provide all the places that are the most credible for Google Places to get citations from?
Lastly, how do you get the citations there from the customers? Is there one place that you can send them to post one review that gets distributed to all the websites Google uses for citations, or are you sending your customers to each website to post a review?
    Thanks, again! Great info!
    Sean

Question 1: We get the review posted through a vareity of means. We primarily ask the client who wrote the good review to then post it on a review site. If that’s too much trouble or the client is not tech savvy enough to navigate setting up accounts etc, then we have one of our people post the review for them. (we have staff all over the U.S.) The bottom line is that all of the reviews can be authenticated and are real.

Question 2: Yes, we do provide  tons of citation sites for US and UK.

Question 3: Citations don’t come from customers, they come from other references across the internet about that business. This can be confusing- another reason the course would be a great option for you.

      Thanks, Valerie

Hi Valerie….Questions raised by Sean, with regard to Reviews,  go to the effectivness of a Google Places listing. I appreciate that this is covered in your program and that Google guidelines are not very clear. Looking foreward to your reply to Sean. Great content. Keep up the good work

    Hi there,

    Good content, I liked it.

It just goes to show that internet marking is definitely there for the taking if you are prepared to put in the hard yards and success surely will follow.

Valerie’s story should be an inspiration to anyone just starting out of what can be achieved.

    Kindest regards

    Hi Valerie,
Great content! I am working full time and would love to get started with this type of business to include mobile marketing, but time seems to be an issue. Jim, maybe you can offer some suggestions too, but my problem is finding the time to make calls, go on appointments, etc. while working a full time day job. I am working when they are working, so getting started will be a challenge. Any ideas on how to handle this, or get started on a part time basis?

Thanks again for the great information!
    Kevin

Hi Valerie, Thanks for your Podcast. I would love to purchase your training however when I visited your website even though the PAYPAL button was shown,  at the checkout there was no Paypal option available. I tried to proceed with out supplying my credit card details hopeful that the Paypal option might come up later but the site would not let me proceed. I couldn’t find any contact email on the website either (apologies if I have industrial blindness!). Can you please let me know how to buy your training using PayPal, and maybe a contact email address for your LocalPlaceProfit?
    Thanks
    Marchelle
